Lively Strings Studio Policies
Directed by Megan Miller
All lessons for the month must be scheduled by the last Wednesday of the previous month. For example, all lessons for the month of October need to be scheduled and confirmed by the last Wednesday of September.
It is generally expected that a student will have lessons on the same day of the week and at the same time. For example, Liam’s lessons are usually on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. However, the studio will do its best to accommodate each family’s scheduling needs and will try to be as flexible as availability allows.
While students are encouraged to continue lessons throughout the summer, it is not obligatory that they do so. Mrs. Miller requests that all students/parents be in touch with her as the school year ends to discuss summer scheduling or the possibility of taking lessons for the summer. Scheduling and billing will remain the same during the summer months.
If a break will be taken during the summer months, Mrs. Miller asks for notification of this decision by June 1st.
Upon completion of each monthly lesson cycle, you will receive a bill for all scheduled lessons in that respective month via email.
Payment for each month’s lessons will be due at the first lesson of each month and it is required that you pay for the entire month at this time.
Accepted methods of payment include cash or check. Credit cards are not accepted.
If payment is not received by the first lesson of the month you will receive a $5 late fee and an updated bill for the month will be forwarded to you.
If you need to cancel a lesson it must be cancelled (and rescheduled if desired) more than 48 hours in advance. Lessons may then be rescheduled or you may choose to receive credit toward the next month’s lesson cycle. If a lesson is cancelled less than 48 hours in advance you will not receive a refund or be able to reschedule.
Exceptions to Cancellations within 48 hours of a lesson where you will be credited or be able to reschedule the lesson:
- Car breaks down
- Car accident
- Family emergencies
- Inclement weather
- Jury Duty
- Ms. Miller cancels the lesson
- Previously discussed vocational commitments or obligations
Note: If a lesson is cancelled within 48 hours due to excessive homework or a forgotten activity/commitment you will not be refunded. These are not considered emergencies. One of the reasons lessons are to be scheduled ahead of time for the entire month is to avoid conflicts with school activities, days where excessive homework is expected, and the usual commitments that occur throughout life.
Rescheduling will only occur when a lesson has been properly cancelled (lessons cancelled within 48 hrs. cannot be rescheduled).
Rescheduling is based on availability and is first come, first served.
If a lesson is cancelled, Mrs. Miller is free to schedule another student during that time.
If a lesson has been properly cancelled and cannot be rescheduled during that month, the student will receive credit toward the next month of lessons.
If a student has chosen to withdraw from lessons a refund will be provided via check at the student’s last lesson for the remaining money credited to the studio (see withdrawal policy below).
The director, Megan Miller, will determine if and when lessons should be cancelled due to inclement weather. If Mrs. Miller cancels lessons on any given day she will notify the parents & students by 12:00 p.m. that day.
The studio will not be following Harford County Public School closings.
Mrs. Miller always has the safety of her students and their families in mind and will carefully consider travel conditions & distances when making a judgement call. If there are ever any concerns Mrs. Miller welcomes phone calls or emails to discuss the situation(s).
Lessons will not be provided on the following major holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
Note: Lesson are not provided on Sundays
If you do not want to have lessons on other holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, etc., be sure to schedule accordingly when submitting your lesson schedule for the month.
If a student chooses to discontinue lessons, the studio requests 2 weeks notice prior to the last lesson.
When proper notice is given, the student will be refunded for the remainder of the lessons in the month at the last lesson. The refund will be in the form of a check. If the student doesn’t show up to the last lesson the student will forfeit the refund.
If the student does not notify the studio at all about discontinuing lessons he or she will not receive any refunds.
