Lively Strings Studio Policies

Directed by Megan Miller

Scheduling:

I prefer to schedule lessons a month at a time. I typically do this at the end of the month. For example, I will schedule February’s lessons at the end of January. I contact each student/family individually to schedule lessons for the next month. Also, I typically like to schedule your lesson to be on the same day and time of the week. However, I am more than willing to work with your scheduling needs if you don’t have a consistent availability.

While students are encouraged to continue lessons throughout the summer, it is not obligatory that they do so. Mrs. Miller requests that all students/parents be in touch with her as the school year ends to discuss summer scheduling or the possibility of taking lessons for the summer. Scheduling and billing will remain the same during the summer months.

Tuition Payment:

Once lessons are scheduled for the month I request payment for those lessons in advance.

Payment for each month’s lessons will be due by the first lesson of each month and it is required that you pay for the entire month at this time.

Accepted methods of payment include cash, check, Venmo & Paypal.

Tuition fees can be found here.

Cancellation Policy:

If you need to cancel a lesson it must be cancelled (and rescheduled if desired) more than 24 hours in advance. Lessons may then be rescheduled or you may choose to receive credit toward the next month’s lesson cycle. If a lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance you will not receive a refund or be able to reschedule.

Exceptions to Cancellations within 24 hours of a lesson where you will be credited or be able to reschedule the lesson:

  • Car breaks down

  • Car accident

  • Family emergencies

  • Illness

  • Inclement weather

  • Jury Duty

  • Ms. Miller cancels the lesson

  • Previously discussed vocational commitments or obligations

Note: If a lesson is cancelled within 24 hours due to excessive homework or a forgotten activity/commitment you will not be refunded. These are not considered emergencies. One of the reasons lessons are to be scheduled ahead of time for the entire month is to avoid conflicts with school activities, days where excessive homework is expected, and the usual commitments that occur throughout life.

Rescheduling Policy:

Rescheduling will only occur when a lesson has been properly cancelled (lessons cancelled within 24 hrs. cannot be rescheduled).

Rescheduling is based on availability and is first come, first served.

If a lesson is cancelled, Mrs. Miller is free to schedule another student during that time.

Refund Policy:

If a lesson has been properly cancelled and cannot be rescheduled during that month, the student will receive credit toward the next month of lessons.

If a student has chosen to withdraw from lessons a refund will be provided via check, Venmo or Paypal at the student’s last lesson for the remaining money credited to the studio (see withdrawal policy below).

Inclement Weather:

The director, Megan Miller, will determine if and when lessons should be cancelled due to inclement weather. If Mrs. Miller cancels lessons on any given day she will notify the parents & students by 12:00 p.m. that day.

The studio will not be following Harford County Public School closings.

Mrs. Miller always has the safety of her students and their families in mind and will carefully consider travel conditions & distances when making a judgement call. If there are ever any concerns Mrs. Miller welcomes phone calls or emails to discuss the situation(s).

Holidays:

Lessons will not be provided on the following major holidays:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Easter

  • Memorial Day

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving

  • Christmas Eve

  • Christmas Day

Note: Lesson are not provided on Sundays

If you do not want to have lessons on other holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, etc., be sure to schedule accordingly when submitting your lesson schedule for the month.

Withdrawal Policy:

If a student chooses to discontinue lessons, the studio requests 2 weeks notice prior to the last lesson.

When proper notice is given, the student will be refunded for the remainder of the lessons in the month at the last lesson. The refund will be in the form of a check. If the student doesn’t show up to the last lesson the student will forfeit the refund.

If the student does not notify the studio at all about discontinuing lessons he or she will not receive any refunds.

“Declaration of Instructor’s Rights:”

  • Mrs. Miller has the right to choose when she will or will not be available to give lessons

  • Mrs. Miller has the right to terminate lessons with a student if:

    • She believes the student is not a good fit for the studio
