My Thoughts on Music
&
Teaching

The simplest way to describe my teaching style is this: I aspire to make every lesson enjoyable, to praise the successes of your past week’s practice, and to build your skills for more playing and fun!

What music I use to teach with depends on the goals and needs of the students. Some students only want help with their school music. These lessons are relaxing as we play through the school music and practice the challenging parts. I also like to focus on the physical skills needed to produce beautiful sounds and enjoy playing.

Students looking to grow their talent will generally use the Suzuki’s music from book 1 to book 8 as well as some additional music and exercises to provide a well-rounded approach to playing the cello. There are always exceptions and some students have better success with different curriculum. In this instance I always adjust to what’s best for the student.
